It is profoundly interesting how as the Bible is relevant today. The Bible prophesied thousands of years ago, that Jerusalem will play a key role in the events of the last days. Zechariah 12:3–4 God says, “I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes the nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock. All the nations will gather against it to try to move it, but they will only hurt themselves.”
It was thought to be impossible, but on May 14, 1948, Israel became a nation. Never has a nation of people been conquered, and dispersed for thousands of years and not lose their identity. Against all odds, Israel did. It is the question the Lord asked Ezekiel 37, "Can these bones become living people again?” The answer is yes! Israel had become a nation once again. This first domino of God's prophetic timeline had began. Today we find ourselves watching the succession of the next domino(s) beginning to fall.
How? In Ezekiel 38 it says Israel would come under attack by a large force from her north. That force is identified as several countries. One of them is Magog. I believe you can make a solid case that Magog is modern-day Russia. But why would Russia ever want to invade Israel? Well, another one of those countries mentioned in the alliance is Persia (Iran). Never has Russia formed a military alliance with, Iran, but they have just recently developed a union. Furthermore, Gomer (Turkey), who is also listed in this alliance, stated their involvement against Israel. The Hook is being set, "I will turn you around and put hooks in your jaws to lead you out with your whole army" Ezekiel 38:4. So if you get up one morning and see a headline, “Russia Attacks Israel,” fasten your seatbelt because the dominoes of prophecy are happening right before your eyes.
So what should we do? Watch and Pray. Jesus said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28). Let us also pray for Israelis abroad. They are being threatened and attacked.
